Back and Neck pain: Have you ever wondered how you can develop back pain or neck pain without doing anything strenuous? A chiropractor can diagnose neck pain, postural stress, back pain and suggest ergonomic solutions. With closer examination of the structure of our bodies and some simple physics principles, it is a wonder that humans do not suffer from more frequent and intense back and neck pain. In my  chiropractic business, I treat clients frequently who work in an office and could benefit from better ergonomics.

Tension Headaches & Neck Pain Like the title implies, muscle tension headaches occur secondary to hypertonic or overly tight muscles.  In many cases, the muscle tension that causes the headache is a direct result of neck pain or dysfunction.  This article will focus on the tension headache because it is the most common type of headache and the type most often linked to neck pain.

Hip Pain and Sciatica pain Lower back pain that is accompanied by leg pain.  The term for this leg pain is sciatica and it implies that the leg pain is due to a compression of the sciatic nerve. More often than not, sciatica is due to compression of the nerve at the point where it exits the spine.  The typical scenario is that one of the five joints in the lower part of the spine will become misaligned, irritated and inflamed, putting pressure on the sciatic nerve and causing leg pain.

Headaches To many of us who don’t suffer from chronic or severe headaches, this condition may seem a minor health problem.  However, they have major implications on the affected patient and on society as a whole.  In 2007, headaches accounted for over 10 million doctor visits in the U.S. alone and are one of the most common reasons for absences from work and school.
Medications from the general practitioner offer temporary pain relief, but do nothing to correct the cause.  Chiropractic care, however, is more geared towards correcting the underlying causes behind many types of headaches.

When people are in pain they take a proactive approach to their health.  People often inquire about what kind of stretch or exercising that they can start right away.  Unfortunately, the best thing that you can do while your injury is new is to apply ice packs to the injured area and rest.

Back and Neck Pain 2 Often, people take action with regard to their health when they experience frequent pain. Eager to start, people frequently ask what kind of stretching or exercise they can implement right away. The best practice you can employ with a new injury is to apply ice packs and rest as much as possible.
During my more than 15 years in practice, I have noticed many enthusiastic people disregard this suggestion and as a consequence, their condition worsens. You want to start exercising and stretching your back when you are out of the acute stage of pain and not before.

Flexible Body is a Healthy Body Strong muscles that span flexible joints are ideal for everything from mundane household chores to weekend athletic adventures.  A lack of stretching catches up to us when we perform movements beyond the normal for our lifestyles or activities.  In some cases, an extreme movement can be something as simple as reaching to the table behind you for your cup of coffee.  Neck pain, back pain, arm pain and leg pain can all occur as a result of injuries due to inflexibility.
